A cloud server is an isolated environment with your own resources whereas in a shared hosting environment the server resources are shared among all accounts on the server. In a shared environment you are restricted to use the features enabled by your provider whereas in on a cloud hosting you are free to disable/enable features suitable for your website. Also, on a cloud server you have your own dedicated IP and hostname usable for services such as sending email. On most shared environments, you'll be sharing an IP address and hostname with other shared server tenants.

In shared hosting, your server space is been shared between multiple users. While in cloud hosting, you get isolated environment.

Cloud hosting has been trending and more popular these days just because it is more reliable than shared hosting. It can also be defined as one of the server on demand hosting.

Shared hosting can be used when you have normal website that does not have huge load and traffic on it. It can be used if you have low budget and simple website for hosting.

On a shared hosting, resources are shared to the number of websites hosted on that server. Whereas cloud hosting has dedicated resources for your site. It's more scalable, and you can easily have almost 99.99999 up for your site.

I think cloud hosting is widely seen as a better option to shared hosting because of its ability to handle large amounts of traffic, its improved security protection, and its reliability.

In Shared hosting, You've to share resources on one server like disk space, storage, bandwidth and databases etc But in Cloud hosting you get an isolated environment.
